Notre Dame, 1960
![]() |
| Photo of the Notre Dame Mathematics Department from around 1960. However some of the people in this photograph were shortly to move to Ohio State, when Arnold Ross (last row third or fourth from the right, face closely flanked on both sides) became chairman in 1963. Most prominent among them was Hans Zassenhaus, in the back row center, next to Olga Taussky and John Todd (to the left of Zassenhaus). Two rows to the front and a little to the left of Todd is Don J. Lewis, who was an Instructor at OSU in the early 50's. On the extreme right, standing is Ram Prakesh Bambah and in front of him kneeling is Stefan Drobot, who both came to OSU in 1963. Two places left of Bambah is Sarvadamen Chowla, and to Chowla's left Hansraj Gupta. (Photo donated by Mrs. Zassenhaus.)
