2003 GTA Teaching Excellence Awards

8 May 2003

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that the Graduate Studies Committee has this year chosen

Dan Boros
Adam Hammett
Eliade Micu

as recipients of the department's Graduate Teaching Associate award for excellence in teaching. The members of the GSC were impressed by the enthusiasm for mathematics, pedogogical flair, and ability to communicate with their students that each of these GTAs displayed in their teaching endeavors. It was, in fact, a refreshing experience for the committee to observe the high level of committment and energy that the 3 award winners, and the other 9 students who were finalists for this award, brought to their classrooms as they struggled with the difficult task of illuminating mathematics for their heterogeneous audiences.

Congratulations to the award winners.

Jeffery D McNeal, GSC chair
