Academic Positions

The Department of Mathematics in the College of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at The Ohio State University may have several tenure-track/tenured positions and visiting positions available this year. Candidates in all areas of pure and applied mathematics are invited to apply. A Ph.D. in mathematics, significant mathematical research accomplishment, and evidence of excellent teaching ability are required.

The Department will also have several Hans J. Zassenhaus Assistant Professorships available. These term positions are renewable annually for up to a total of three years. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in mathematics and to present evidence of excellence in research and teaching. Mathematical Biosciences

The Department of Mathematics in the College of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at The Ohio State University expects to have openings at both the junior and senior level in the area of mathematical and computational biology.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in mathematics or a related area, such as mathematical sciences, biomathematics, biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, and engineering, and show outstanding promise and/or accomplishments in both research and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in the Department of Mathematics and actively participate in the newly formed Mathematical Biosciences (MBI). Assistant Professor in Mathematical Biology / Evolution and Ecology

Department of Evolution, Ecology, & Organismal Biology (EEOB)

The Department of Mathematics and the Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology (EEOB) invite applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematical Biology. The position will be 80% in the Department of Mathematics and 20% in EEOB and will be tenure-eligible in Mathematics. Preference will be given to mathematicians with interest in areas such as ecology, population genetics and evolutionary biology. The appointee will be part of a growing faculty in the area of mathematical biology at OSU, with opportunities to participate in the activities of the Mathematical Biosciences Institute, an NSF-funded National Institute located at The Ohio State University. Through research and teaching, the appointee will contribute to bridging biology and mathematics at OSU.
