Tomasz Elsner was awarded the Banach Prize of the Polish Mathematical Society for the best last year PhD dissertation in mathematics. The dissertation, entitled "Theory of minimal surfaces in systolic spaces", was written under the supervision of Tadeusz Januszkiewicz.
