The Ross Program for Teachers

The Ross Program for high school teachers is a three week summer session involving the exploration of mathematical ideas through inquiry-based learning. This program not only allows teachers to increase their content knowledge, but also allows them a rare opportunity to work through mathematical concepts using problems-based methods that promote learning and understanding. Instructors who want to teach for understanding should become familiar with this kind of environment.

Participating teachers are immersed in a world of mathematical discovery, surrounded by people at many mathematical levels. The principal technique is problem solving, with an emphasis on reasoning and on mathematical writing.

In addition to learning mathematical ideas, participating teachers will receive a stipend of $1000. They may use part of this to enroll at Ohio State for 5 graduate credits. (Partially subsidized registration fee:  $600.)

This program for teachers runs in tandem with the eight week Ross Program for high school students talented in mathematics. Participation in this Program for Teachers is independent of whether students from your school attend the Ross Program.
