Using SSH Secure Shell
Configuring SSH Secure Shell for Windows
- Click on start, then Programs, SSH Secure Shell, and then click on Secure Shell Client. (This will launch the program for you)

- Once the program has launched, there are two ways to get into the settings:
A. Click on Edit then Settings
B. Click on the two gears on the toolbar.
- Under Host, Settings, Connection, Host Name put in teh following host: math.ohio-state.edu
- Click on Keyboard and then click in the empty box to put a check mark by Backspace sends Delete
- If you are running X11, then click on Tunneling, and click on the box to put a check mark by Tunnel X11 connections. Note that if you do not know what X11 is, then you most likely are not running it.
- Click on OK to exit out of settings.
- Click on File, Save to save your current settings as the default settings for SSH
Using SSH Secure Shell for Windows
- Click on start, then Programs, SSH Secure Shell, and then click on Secure Shell Client. (This will launch the program for you)

- To connect to a host there are two ways to do this:
A. Click on File then Connect
B. Click on the Computer Icon on the toolbar.
- After you click on connect a box will come up asking you to enter your user name for the default host of math.ohio-state.edu. Type in you username and press connect.

- Another box will appear then asking you for your password, type in your password and then click OK or press enter.

Congradulations now you should be connected to a remote host using SSH.

If this connection is going to be used often you can create a short cut on your desktop by saving the current session to you desktop, to do this follow these directions
- Click on File then save as
- Under Save In make sure the destination is your desktop
- Click on Save
