We are going to study polynomial invariants of knots and links (the Jones, Kauffman, HOMFLY polynomials), and polynomial invariants of graphs and matroids (the Tutte, Bollobas-Riordan, chromatic, Martin, LasVergnas, interlace polynomials). Most of the topics will be accessible to advance undergraduate and beginning graduate students.
