Number Theory Working Group: Fall '03 and Winter '04.
Coordinators: Vitaly Bergelson (vitaly AT math.ohio-state.edu), Steven Miller
(sjmiller AT math.brown.edu), Warren Sinnott (sinnott AT math.ohio-state.edu)
- LaTeX Templates:
template.tex template.dvi
template.ps
template.pdf YL.eps:
The template.tex file is the sourcecode. It needs the file YL.eps to be in
the same directory (as I've included a picture). If you don't want to use graphics, just comment out the line with YL.eps in
the .tex file. There are three main file-types one can view: .dvi, .ps, .pdf. I prefer to
view .pdf files. To run, at the UNIX prompt type emacs template.tex & in the directory with
the file. The & opens the file in a new window. Control-c-f compiles the file. At the UNIX prompt, type xdvi template.dvi &
and you'll see the .dvi file of your document. If you type more and then recompile, if you toggle to the dvi window it will
automatically update! The advantage of xdvi over dvi.
- Mathematica Template:
MathematicaIntro4.nb:
Above is a simple Mathematica notebook, with some functions. I have MANY
Mathematica notebooks, so if you want to see more complete programs, just let me know. You need to
type SHIFT-ENTER to compile a line. At the UNIX prompt on a math department machine, type mathematica to
run Mathematica.
For more programs / information, see the
Princeton Mathlab
and the NYU Mathlab
homepages. A book based on this and other, similar courses is available
here.
In Summer 2004 Steven Miller ran a Vertically
Integrated Summer Program in Computational Number Theory. Additional student
reports are available there.
