Research Experience for Undergraduates at REU Sites across the U.S. during Summer 2008
Each year, universities across the nation offer Research Experiences in Mathematics for undergraduates. At each REU site, groups of undergraduates work during summer on research projects at the host institution. Students are in general accepted from throughout the country. Each student works on a specific research project and interacts with other undergraduate students, faculty, post-docs, and graduate students. In addition, seminars, lunch meetings, and social functions are organized to facilitate interaction between the undergraduates. REU sites for Summer 2008 can be found at the following links:
Students are granted stipends and, typically, assistance with housing and travel. For most REU programs, applicants must be citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the U.S. to be eligible for stipends. Please note that each site has its own application procedures and deadlines (and should therefore be contacted directly for specific information).
We would like to encourage OSU undergraduate math majors to apply to these REU programs. Please contact Vitaly Bergelson (vitaly@math.ohio-state.edu) if you are interested in participating in one of the REU programs and have questions or need help or advice on the application procedure.
