For the Spring 2008 quarter, I am teaching Math 255 (Differential Equations and Their Applications). Below I have listed the course information with a link to the course syllabus.

12830-A: Math 255--Differential Equations and Their Applications--MWF 1230p--SB (Schoenbaum Undergrad Program Bldg) 0230

The recitation sections for this course are as follows:

Both of these are taught by the course teaching assistant Shirali Kadyrov.

Tutoring--The Math & Statistics Learning Center (MSLC) offers tutoring services for most classes through differential equations. Click here for all the relevant information on this service as well as other tutoring opportunities. I highly encourage using this service if you have questions and cannot make it to my office hours.

Homework Assignments--This section is devoted to keeping a record of the problems that I assign at the end of each lecture. I may update it prior to class or immediately after I teach. If I forget and you need to know the problem set, just email me. Homework will be collected every Tuesday except the Tuesdays AFTER exams. So tentatively, exams are scheduled for Friday, April 18, and Friday, May 9. As such, there will be no homework collection on Tuesday, April 22, and Tuesday, May 13. This is to allow the for exam study during the week of exams. Also, I will endeavor to keep track of the due dates on the table below, however, in case I forget, the scheme will be as follows. The homework assignments will cover a Friday lecture as well as the subsequent Monday and Wednesday. The due date for such an assignment will be the following Tuesday. For instance, there will be an assignment covering section 2.1 on Friday (March 28) section 2.4 on Monday (March 31) and section 2.5 (April 2). That entire assignment will be due on Tuesday, April 8th. The purpose of this scheme is to ensure that you will always have at least one recitation and some office hours between the last lecture for an assignment and the due date.

NEW!--04/01/2008--The following list contains some additional practice problems for the various concepts that we will encounter this quarter. I will attempt to update this list weekly to include material being covered that week. All of these problems come from the book Introduction to Ordinary Differential Equations, 4th Ed. by Shepley L. Ross (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 1989; ISBN: 0-471-09881-7). I have scanned in some of the problem sets as well as the solutions to the odd numbered exercises in those sections.

NEW!--04/11/2008-- A review session for the first exam will be held on Tuesday, April 15, from 5:30-7:30pm in Scott Laboratory (SO) in room 2460. Please bring questions because I will have very little prepared material. I want to address your specific questions and concerns.

NEW!--04/11/2008-- The following link contains a review sheet (in .pdf form) for the material to be covered on the first Math 255 exam. Click here to download the review sheet.

NEW!--04/13/2008-- The following contains a link to some additional review problems pertaining to formulating differential equations that model a given scenario. There are five word problems in which one is asked to set up a differential equation and then answer some questions related to the differential equation. Click here to download this .pdf file.

NEW!--04/21/2008-- Because we were assigned a non-existent room for the first exam review, I scheduled the next review session well in advance. The second exam review will occur on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, from 5:30-7:30pm in Scott Laboratory (SO) in room 0024. I think that this was the room we were supposed to get last time, but the information was entered wrong on my confirmation slip. Anyhow, I went to verify the room's existence. It is located in the basement of Scott Laboratory in the E-section of the building. If I remember correctly the room is labeled as E024 on the wall placard. However, I also came to realize that although their are different letter prefixes on the rooms in Scott Labs, none of the numbers repeat (i.e., there is no other letter with room number 024).

NEW!--04/23/2008-- The following links contain solutions to the first Math 255 exam. Recall that Exam 1A was green and Exam 1B was blue:
