Hints on Style

This page contains the file hint.tex which is a latex document containing some ideas on mathematical style; it also contains the associated dvi file hint.dvi. The original file hint.tex was written with the help of a number of mathematicians (primarily J.-P. Serre) in the early 1990's. The current version (spring 1998) augments the original version with some very useful suggestions of E.G.Dunne of the American Mathematical Society and P. Vojta of U.C. Berkeley. Feel free to use these files in any way that you feel helps with mathematical writing.
