You should read sections of the book before they are studied in class.

CALCULATORS: A graphing calculator is a required component of this course. Texas Instruments TI-83 (or TI-83+) would be the best choice. TI-83 on line Note: TI-89, TI-92, or any calculator that uses a Computer Algebra System is not allowed.

Homework: There will be daily assignments. Your solutions will not be collected. I encourage you to work with your classmates on the assignments.

Tests and quizzes: Every Friday will be a test or a quiz. Each quiz will consist of problems selected from the assignments. On the quiz you may use any material in your own handwriting, including class notes and assignment solutions.
There will be two midterms and one final exams. You may use your calculator. You may not use your text, notes, or solutions to assignments. Except for extraordinary reasons, you must take the examinations at the scheduled times.

TENTATIVE EXAMINATION SCHEDULE:
MIDTERM I Friday, February 02.
MIDTERM II Friday, March 02.
FINAL EXAM Monday, March 12, 6:00-7:48 p.m..

TOTAL POINTS POSSIBLE: Each quiz will be graded out of 50 points. The lowest grade will be dropped and the average of the remaining quiz scores will be the total quiz grade.
