Textbook: "Algebra'' revised 3rd Edition, by Serge Lang (published by Springer-Verlag).

Description: This is the first course, in a three-quarter sequence, of graduate-level algebra. The goal of the sequence is to discuss the foundational materials of algebra, in order to prepare graduate students for further study and research in algebra and related fields. The plan for Math 770 is to cover group theory and basics of representations of groups. A more detailed syllabus can be found in TBA.

Grading: Based on Homeworks.
