• Calculators are NOT permitted during the gateway exam.
• Calculators ARE permitted during the midterm and final exams, except those calculators that have symbolic algebra or calculus capabilities. In particular, the following calculators and their upgrades, are NOT permitted:
  • TI-89
  • TI-92
  • TI Voyage 200
  • HP-48
  • HP-49
  • Casio FX2.0
  • Casio CFX 9970G
• It is also not permitted to use higher memory functions on a calculator, e.g., to store and read formulae. This will be considered (the electronic equivalent of) using notes during exams, which is prohibited and hence academic misconduct.
• Furthermore, PDAs, cell phones, pagers or any other electronic communication devices as well as all laptops must be turned off during all exams.
• Violations of this policy will be referred to the Committee on Academic Misconduct.
• You are allowed to use basic arithmetic and graphing functions on a calculator that is not excluded above.
