Math 151A Calculator Policy
Autumn 2007
- Calculators are NOT permitted during the gateway exam.
- Calculators ARE permitted during the midterm and final
exams, except those calculators that have
symbolic algebra or calculus capabilities. In particular, the following
calculators and their upgrades, are NOT permitted:
- TI-89
- TI-92
- TI Voyage 200
- HP-48
- HP-49
- Casio FX2.0
- Casio CFX 9970G
- It is also not permitted to use higher memory functions on a calculator, e.g.,
to store and read formulae. This will be considered (the electronic
equivalent of) using notes during exams, which is prohibited and hence
academic misconduct.
- Furthermore, PDAs, cell phones, pagers or any other electronic communication
devices as well as all laptops must be turned off during all exams.
- Violations of this policy will be referred to the Committee on Academic
Misconduct.
- You are allowed to use basic arithmetic and graphing functions on a calculator
that is not excluded above.
